help ! any advice on anger management for a 7 year old

Please I am at the end of my tether. I was on here with a similar problem regarding my daughter around the same time last year. The school has just called me saying that my dd tried to strangle her classmate for sitting in her chair. I can't keep blaming her father's foul temper. I am a single fulltime working mum of 1. Are there courses for such things ? should the school be helping more. I really am at a loss and would appreciate any help at all ?

where we are we have a scheme called scallywags that i think helps with this sort of thing.

not sure if they are nationwide?

just googled it and i think it is just in my area. maybe you could ring your county council and see if they have a similar scheme?

talk to the school as well cheltenhamgal. My DS is 7 and has had behavioural problems & the school have been great. I've kept them as much in the picture as possible about the marriage break up & when ex-H is behaving like a complete twunt.
The school may well be able to give you some organisations that can help.
Big hugs to you - it is so tough to deal with all this stuff on your own.

thanks bugsy, the school sound as if they dont quite know what else to do. I have left a message for the health visitor though and am looking at the parentplus website

I thought an organisation like parentline might help - but I didn't find much

You should be able to go on a parenting course (look at your local surestart) which might help

try contacting Julie at cheltenham and district Careers and Families CADCAF a local support group for any families with a special needs child.

thanks for all your advice, the school eventually put me in touch with Barnardos who are helping any families with "problem" children so to speak

Hi Cheltenhamgal, My son's school run a children's anger management course. It runs for so many weeks & they get a certificate etc once completing it, which always gives them an insentive to take part. Make some enquires. Ask your school as they may know of such course for kids.
