Why is she doing this?

DD1, age 3.5, has always been a good sleeper.

But lately she's waking once or twice between 10PM-midnight, or sometimes in the night, calling out for a drink of water or a particular cuddly, etc.

Then she says, when you give it to her, 'I need to sleep.'

And off she goes again.

WTF?

DH thinks it might be b/c she's checking to see if we're still here.

Is she perfectly happy when she's awake? Does she seem fully awake?

DS1 did a similar thing a while ago, but he was scared there were monsters under his bed(!) so there was a "reason".

Is she getting cold at night?

she's fully awake. she just wants something.

she's not cold.

i didn't put the heat on in her room tonight b/c she's in: a long sleeved top and bottom pj set, grobag and 10.5 tog duvet. last night she was sweating. tonight she's perfect temp.

when you go in and give what she wants she just says, 'i need to sleep. goodnight.'

she was ill last week, and still has a bit of a cough, but nothing much.

i don't get it.

our DD goes through stages of doing the same as yours for a week or so and then goes back to normal.

We just give her water/milk etc and leave her to it.

We just guess that sometimes she wakes in her kight sleep and just wants to check were there.
