Long Sight and development in toddlers

Hi there

I have previously posted about concerns over my sons lack of communication skills. We have today found out, due to having a slight lazy eye, that our little man is long sighted. He will need glasses which shall be err interesting at 23 months. I would love to hear from anyone whose little one is also long sighted and in glasses and wondered what differences you noticed in your little one once they had glasses and also how long it took them to adjust to wearing them.

My ds (5) wear glasses for long sightedness. he's had them since he was 3 1/2 so not as young as your ds. He also has a very slight squint and had to be patched everyday for 4 hours to strenghten the 'bad' eye. He was told that he no longer needed the patches when he was 4 1/2 but has just at this last appointment had to wear the patch for an hour a day again, which he wasn't too happy about. I wear glasses (short sighted) and dh wears glasses for reading etc as he is long sighted - so the chances that ds had to have them was quite high.

Ds just put them on and that was that, no complaining, no questions nothing. I think you can get straps to go round the head to keep them on if your ds keeps taking them off.
