Crying solidly?

What have you tried?

If your baby won't stop crying, no harm in ringing NHS Direct to get them to run through their checklist.

How many hours and what have you tried?

Are you sure there are no other causes, does your lo have a temperature or anything?

Have you tried rocking in a pram or even going for a drive in the car- i know not a good habit but if you are desperate!

Is he/she constipated? can you soothe with a massage or anything?

ok. follow these steps carefully and you should get some joy:
wrap baby tightly in a blanket with his (?) arms down straight at his sides. as tight as you can- it wont hurt him- the tighter the better.

sit on the edge of the sofa and lay him on his right side with his head away from you. cup his head loosely in your hands.

move your knees together in a quick motion, sharp enough to make his head wag back and forth in your hands about an inch. just make sure he is straight ie: his head is in line with his body.

he should be quiet and start dropping off almost straight away if you have the combo right. pay special attention to the wrapping!
if no joy And you use a dummy give him a dummy aswell and lean over him and 'shhhhh' right by his ear, at least as loud as his crying- it wont hurt him- the sound in your womb he was used to was as loud as a vacuum cleaner. as he quiets down, quiet down your shhhhh to normal level.

try it and let me know. it always works on ds2 (5weeks)
