3yr-old suddenly got clingy

My DD1 who has recently turned 3 has in the last couple of weeks suddenly become very clingy. She's on the whole very outgoing and sociable and loves going to nursery/childminders but she has become very tearful when I have to leave to go to work. (They tell me she's fine once I've gone.) What used to be a kiss and a hug now results tears and her asking me to stay with her and give her more kisses and a cuddles. She even got very upset when I dropped her off at her nanny's this morning who she adores. Is it just an age thing? She's happy in every other way. Its heartbreaking to have to walk away when she's screaming mummy stay with me.

Hi, I'm afraid I can only empathise with you, not really offer any words of wisdom.

My DS and I have always been very close, but recently he hates me leaving him (he's 2.6yrs). I posted on here as it had got to the stage where he would push my DH and sometimes hit him if DH tried to play with us / cuddle us. The replies I got suggested it was just age and they grow out of it. I've even noticed a small improvement recently.

Hope it gets better soon.

My ds is 3.4 and has re-entered the clingy phase recently. he has settled in nicely at nursery but no longer wants to do things like go to the park with nanny, go swimming with dad, stay at grandma's. "I will miss you" he howls. i think now he's older he has a better grasp on emotions so everything feels a bit more "real" to him IYSWIM
