DS (2.1) diagnosed with flat feet

My DS (2.1) has today been diagnosed with having flat feet. He tends to walk on the inside of his feet and because the arches aren't really there his ankcles tend to overhang (sorry, difficult to discribe). I have been told there is no treatment for this and he will always have flat feet and it shouldn't hinder him in anyway. Obvously i am concerned about how he will walk and how his feet and anckles will be as he gets older. Any advice or experience of this that anyone can offer be would be most welcome.

A girl in my son's class has flat feet, apparently. I've known her 8 years and I had never noticed. She's quite a good gymnast, actually, so I really wouldn't worry.
