11week old screams in car seat

Hi

Has anyone got any ideas how I can stop my 11 week old screaming everytime I put her in the car seat? I dont even have to strap her in before she screams and screams until i lift her out again or she sends herself to sleep? Do you think it could be our fault as she has suffered badly with colic and to calm her down and send her to sleep we have often put her into the car, could she have bad associations with it now?? if me and dh are going one of us always sits in the back with her but it makes no difference!

have you tried swaddling her tightly so she feels secure? you could try feeding her right before you put her in. a brightly coloured toy might help i hope you find the key good luck

Some kids do do that (DS was one). If it's any consolation (which it won't be at the moment) they tend to grow out of it around 4-5 months. With DS when he got to 4 months he would graciously agree not to scream if one of us went in the back with him and gave him a thumb to suck on and jingled keys at him the whole time. Then he gradually got better and better and would settle for less and less intervention.

Both ds1 and dd would scream blue murder when put in the carseat over a period of months. As it was generally over the winter I thought it might be the bundling that they hated. Try putting a sheepskin liner in the seat, and using a hat and a blanket instead of a coat.

I don't thjink it's any sort of negative association, as we didn't do the driving for colic. Osteos dislike car seats as they say it's bad for the back (and we are told after all not to let the baby be in one for more than a ouple of hours a day). I woder whether a visit to an osteo might help? Some car seats come with pads to straighten the baby's back - maybe that would help?

My 13 week ds does this too, it started when he was around 2 weeks old. It's awful! It's the only time he actually really cries and I find it really distressing.
I think he is incredibly uncomfortable, we don't take him on any journey that takes longer than 20 mins not possible for all I know.
We're hoping it will get better as he gets bigger and we can turn the seat around.
