bit of an odd one - 16mo putting fingers down throat and laughing when he gags

anyone else seen this?

unfortunately, the first time he did it, i was shocked but couldn't help but laugh a bit when he laughed. now i think he does it for a reaction. i'm now ignoring, but he appears to find it p*ss funny.

i used to do that. it is such a weird feeling, like pressing a button in your throat. i don't remember finding it funny, but i did find it interesting and only did it for a short while i think.

no, but as my best friend would say..ignore it!..im of the opposition and would make a big deal of not doing it, but shes right most of time and if you give no reaction, they wont think its worth doing!

my ds2 did that,at about 18 months,he actually made himself sick once or twice!i was terrified and kept telling him to stop but he would just laugh so i tried ignoring him and after about 3 times he never did it again-so obviously it was my horrified reaction he found funny
children are so strange

My dd is 16 mths and has done this a few times. I just distract her with a toy and she stops, hopefully she won't do it again.

My 14 month old has been doing this for a couple of months now and I find it quite upsetting because I have a thing about sickness (give me pooey nappies anytime!). I tried just ignoring it but she made herself sick. The worst time was when she did it at bedtime when we left her to settle herself and was sick all over the covers (and this really concerned me in case she did it through the night and I didnt hear her and she choked!). Anyway, Ive tried distraction and telling her off and neither of those seem to work - any other suggestions?
