Low tone, what to expect?

My almost 7 month old has low tone, mainly to her shoulders and trunk , and we have been doing physio for a month. Physio feels it's low normal tone and not hypotonia. She can bring her hands easily to midline and will actually cross her midline to reach for a toy. She reaches for toys under her play gym. Will roll belly to back. She will push up high on her hands during belly time, but tires quickly. She has very good head control but she slumps to the side when her neck gets tired. When On my belly facing me and If I hold her her waste she will sit but wobble a bit when tired. She can sit in a propped position (sitting her with hands in front between spread legs) for a minute or so. Will take weight on lefts for a few seconds. She has a profound hearing impairment which may be contributing to the low tone. Anyone else have kids with low normal tone? Just wondering when to expect her to sit unsupported and other milestones?

Hi - no personal experience but my friend had a DS with a hemiparesis. He was 2 months older than my first DC and was nowhere near any of the milestones and then at about 18 months to 2 years suddenly caught up! He now hammers my DC1 at most physical tasks xx

Hi
It sounds like She just may take a little longer to reach physical mile stones but will achieve them. Some children bottom shuffle rather than crawl but that doesn't matter.
Swimming helps massively to build up muscles. Keep going at home with the Physio exercises/programme they will make such a difference.

Hi OP. I was told my dd was 'a bit hypotonic but still within normal range'. I have no idea if this is similar to your dd or not!

My dd was very prem, but now at 16 mths (but only 13 months corrected) she is crawling and starting to cruise. She has recently been given little boots by the physio to help her stand as she believes it will help support her. Dd is also very hypermobile.

She was definitely behind with her mipestoones compared to her sister. But I keep being told that she is not delayed and within the normal range for her corrected age.

Hope that helps x
