My 4 and a half month old can roll onto his tummy. He's been doing this for a month now..quite early. He's very strong and big! Has been able to hold his head up from birth incredibly...
Anyway he has rolled back again onto his back a couple of times but not much. He is obsessed with rolling onto his tummy and does it constantly. Only trouble is he gets tired and can't play much whilst doing this and in the night wakes every 2 hours and won't go to sleep again easily-just rolls back over onto his tummy and screams. He does fall asleep on his side and occasionally on his tummy. But it seems to be keeping him wakeful.
Will his sleeping improve when he can roll back again easily? And how long till he masters that as it's been a month.
I'm not bothered what position he sleeps in as he's so big and strong and we have an angelcare monitor too-just want him to sleep longer than 2 hours!!!

It's just a developmental phase. You can help him along a little bit by showing him how to raise his arm above his head when he rolls.

You can make a little game of moving his arm up and down. It isn't a move that comes naturally to them at this point.

Ah yes, we had this one. They are adorably indignant to find themselves on their tummies. But maybe not so adorable at 3am. I don't think it took more than a couple of weeks from there for DD to decide that actually tummy sleeping was where it was at. No guarantees tho, they're all different!
