Teething Pain from 3 months - still no sign of teeth at nearly 8 months

Our daughter started getting teething pain before 3 months but is now nearly 8 months and has no teeth in sight.

Is this common? We felt that her teething pain was early and expected teeth to follow quite quickly but there's still so sign of any and she still gets teething pain every couple of days, with a severe episode every week or so.

Is there anything we can/should do other than just ease her pain with gel/teethers, etc.?

From a not scientific poll of my friends, sisters and me! Yes, very normal. Horrid for them though. Some teeth seem to take months and cause loads of pain, others seem to pop through overnight with barely a grizzle.

I found Ashton's and Parsons powder helped a bit, and baby ibuprofen if it got really bad. Other people I know swear by gels and anbesol.

It was same for us. DS has four teeth arriving all at once at 9m - it's not great. We've had episodes of red face, drooling and unhappiness for months, but teeth are finally coming. I recommend ibuprofen and/or calpol - don't feel bad about giving it, our GP basically told us off for trying to be stoic about it.

My ds was teething from about 8 weeks, he was in a lot of discomfort and pain until recently. Teething has been really bad for him. He didn't get his first tooth until he was over 10 months and has just got his last tooth through now. He's 2.5 now. It's so hard to help them, I used paracetamol, the herbal powders, gels and anbesol. Paracetamol and anbesol worked better than the gels and powders for him and a clean wet but cold, from the fridge, face cloth to chew on too.
