my ds is 11 weeks old and the past week he somehow managed to end up sleeping on his side.

is this okay for there backs? he seems happy enough sleeping like this but just before he wakes up or soon as he opens his eyes he lets out a cry like he is in pain, stretches his body and then he is fine..

..so this makes me think that its not good for him

will speak to health visitor when i go but just wanted to know other mums experiences or views

ive tried to put him back onto his back but he moves to his side again, so am a bit worried that he may turn right over and wont be able to turn back or move his head and he wont be able to breath properly

my ds is 13 weeks and has slept on his side or tummy since being about 4 weeks , hates being on his back , am happy with him on side , worry about him on tum , but have read on here that others find the same , he has strong neck and has always had good head control , makes me worry a tiny bit less , my hv said they will end up in all sorts of positions that look uncomfy but if they truly are they will let you know

thanks frumpyfred for putting my mind at ease, its hard not to compare what my baby does with what ds1 did at that stage

my ds has slept on his side from day 1. i would put him on his back and he would move to the side. when he was 4 weeks we spent the night in hospital and i put him on his back to sleep. the nurse came in a few minutes later and proceeded to put him on his side so it must be ok. years ago all babies were put on their sides!
