My dd is so frightened of every day noises e.g. hoover, blender, lawn mower etc. that even when I tell her/give her a warning she has to go and hide! Upstairs or outside with doors closed in between her and the noise! I wonder if anyone has any advice as it would be nice to help her over this, have tried all the you can press the buttons etc. to no avail...hysterical screaming at the mere mention of it!! thx

oh, bless her I would let her do what she is doing tbh, she has found a way to cope with it so why not let her do this till she grows out of it, which she WILL. (Can't really picture her at 18 bringing boyfriend to dinner..."this is the living room, oh and there's the garden where we'll hide in a minute when mum blends up the soup....")

Or if she has got a cd player, why not get her some headphones and settle her down with a story or music while you do the necessary?

Hello catnat,

My dd is exactly the same. She is 3.10 and hates the hoover, blender, strimmer, etc. I can't take her in the ladies loo whilst out shopping because she hates the hand dryers (we use the disabled loo).
We went to a friends birthday party and the magician had her in tears because he was so loud.
I don't push her, just warn her beforehand.
She dosen't like anybody shouting either.
I don't worry too much, she will grow out of it.
