Is using 4 word sentences normual for a four year old boy he was born in october just wandering. He is mainly using 3 word sentences but can also use 4 any feedback would be appreciated

Well it seems rather delayed to be honest...is he receiving any help with his speech and language development? By 4 a child should be able to relate quite complex ideas and tell little stories about their day...they do vary but that seems quite short to me.

Yes he is. He tells stories and stuff talks allot

Have to tell him to be quiet still talking at night time. I read everyday and let him listen to nursery rhymes and also going nursery so try from my side. Take him library also

Yes he does he says it then stops and says something else lol

Well as I said....they're all different but by 4, I would expect longer sentences than 3 or 4 words. You should ask the GP or HV about it...so that you can get a professional opinion...that's the best way to set your mind at rest.

I get help and he has improved a great deal thanks to nursery and no thanks to speech therapy but just wandering how other boys my sons age talk

Yes good idea i think i will speak to hv and hes starting reception this year so will get a better idea thanks for the chat made me laugh abit as i am abit confused as if i should be worried or not but he seems to be progressing which is good thanks

Can we have an example of things he says? Why not invite other children around to play at your house? He may be inclined to follow how they speak if he has more one to one time with them. You must see him play with other children to see how they speak?

Yes i do but hes one of the oldest at his nursery private one he plays tea time with a girl there. He loves playing with water and sand and loves playing really hard puzzles and will not leave it till he gets it right. An example of what he says is five monkeys jumping bed instead of five monkeys jumping on the bed. He is lovely every other way and people who get to know him like him allot
