DD Wetting herself at school

DD is 6. She loves school, and as far as I know has no issues . She has been dry ( day and night )since she was 3. She is quite sensible ( for a 6 year old)

Over the last month she has wet herself twice at school. Once during PE, and once during a reading lesson. Both times she says she had been doe a wee at break, and also that she didn't feel "the urge" to wee.

School are very good, and the teacher rang home today to talk to us.

DD is obviously upset ( you can imagine some of the comments she has had from her classmates).

Has anyone else experienced this ... could it be a UTI ? . I hate the thought of her having hard time over this. Advice please ?

Oh dear, that must be very upsetting for DD and for you.

It could be a UTI. If I were you I would take her to the gp and take a sample with you. If you can't get a specimen jar from the surgery then use a clean jar or pot. It is a lot easier to do this at home, my DD got very distressed when she couldn't produce a wee in the doctor's loo, it was awful.

If it is a UTI then antibiotics will clear it up really quickly, in a few days.

I know it is easy to say but children can be very unkind but forget about incidents like this very quickly. What is the big news one day is forgotten the next day when something else has happened, so while you and your DD are quite reasonably still upset by it, the other children will soon have another thing to focus their attention on. It is horrible at the time though.

Good luck, hope that helps a little.

Thanks Monikar.
We never had this issue with DS (8) so I don't know whether this is something that happens to a lot of kids . I suspect it might be that she gets so caught up in something that she doesn't notice she needs a wee. Its just odd that it never happens at home or when she is with us.
I think I will take her to the Drs just to rule out a UTI
