Help me please!! We moved our 2 year old dd into a cotbed about 2 weeks ago. Prior to this she would go off no probs at 7 pm and sleep through until 7.30 am, sometimes 8 at weekends, and nap fri/sat/sun for 2/2.5 hours (the other days she's at nursery and has about 1 hour). Now I know we were extremely lucky and were probably bonkers to move her to a cotbed, but she had started to wake up and then take her nappy off, poo and all! I think we thought if we moved she would shout, we could put her on the potty and she'd go back to bed. First week she was as good as gold, apart from first night going to bed when she was a bit unsettled, but asleep after 30 mins. She napped fine, I thought we'd cracked it! Grin
Then....she refused to nap, then she started waking up at 5.30am, then she started waking in the night, then she started refusing to go to sleep. I don't have a problem with letting her have a cry then going to put her back into bed but she screams her head off and strips including nappy, shes obsessed with having a new one even if its clean on. She won't let you put it back on and tonight she lashed out at me. She also bites and scratches. I would just put her in bed and shut the door but feel I can't do this if she's naked. Also should i punish her for hitting etc, i.e. timeout (as i would do during the day) when she's clearly knackered. WWYD?
I would put her back in the cot but I think she'd still strip off so we'd be in same boat as now, and also feels like a backward step.
I think she is being naughty but am worried that she is feeling insecure or something. I wouldn't really mind her not napping and getting up early, but she is clearly exhausted and so subsequently a pain in the ass the rest of the day!
My husband and I end up falling out over what's best to do and it is not conducive to TTC DC2!!
Anyone been through something similar? Thanks

Not exactly the same, but both my DDs have been poor sleepers. I've found the best thing is a minimal response, like supernanny 'back to bed'. So no punishments, not talking, no fun, just fix the nappy & put in bed.

Also, having more fun and more cuddles in the daytime & stories about how big girls sleep in beds. If my dd is happy in the day/evening & goes to bed calm, then she sleeps better.

Thanks for that, I think you might be on to something with the happy/calm evenings, problem is dd doesn't get home from nursery until 6 pm ish then it's quick play, bath, bed. It can all
be a bit rushed. Maybe I should work on that a bit more.

Regarding the poo thing, try buying an all in one sleepsuit with a zip, cut the feet out, and put it on back to front so that the zip is unreachable at the back. That way they can't get to the poo!

Suede - that is genius! I will see if I can find some in her size. Thanks

I resorted to duct taping the nappy so my DS couldn't take it off.

Fuzzymum, funny you say that, I have just done the exact same thing for her nap! Feel bad but maybe it's more normal than I thought!
