Silent reflux?

What exactly is it and how is it diagnosed?

Ds2 is 10 weeks and I have docs appt today for the constant crying he been doing. Have read up on silent reflux and wondering if its this? Signs something is wrong are:

Constant crying, never content, not even when being held.
Nothing really soothes him not even buggy or car ride, a dummy might settle him enough for sleep but its short lived.
Crying turns to screams and shaking.
Crying so much he now has i suspect a sore throat as his cries are scratchy and almost like losing his voice.
Takes ages to feed (he on sma staydown as was sick on others) and is uncomfortable doing so, wriggles, comes off bottle, cries.
Sneezes, a lot!
Generally unhappy all the time, we yet to see a smile!!!

Can anyone shed any light?

Didn't know if I should mention:
Ds2 is very small baby. Born full term at 4lb 10. He now only 7lb 5.
Breastfeeding was v hard, he just wouldnt do it and was told to formula feed to get his weight up.

Not sure if any of that relevant to what he might be going through? Sorry if garbled just so worried for him

Sounded like my dd and was reflux, she's now 11 weeks and is tons better after being on omeprazole. I find you need to be assertive with drs.

Things for home that help, sitting upright during feeding and for at least thirty mins afterwards, putting a cot wedge in (to be fair this didnt do anything for us) switching to cow and gate comfort milk for us.

Ask dr for ranitidine to start with, it's mega weight sensitive, so needs changing constantly but as it neutralises stomach acid it stops the burning at the back of the throat. Gaviscon helps keep it all down but again did nothing for us, once the ranitidine worked it was easier,still wasn't perfect though.

Finally go in, ask for a referral to paeditrician, we got under one within four days and it helped massively.

Ds2 had this and some of the feeding positions were incredibly strange to see and he had to sleep (for the little time he would) on his side. Infant gaviscon really helped and my gp was really sympathetic. He grew out of it at about 9 months. I hope it resolves quicker for you.

It does sound like it might be silent reflux - have you checked for tongue-tie? Also it could be a sign of cows milk protein allergy, especially with the sneezing.

Gaviscon and stay down mills helped DS to keep his milk in but made the silent bit worse.

Sounds like it could be reflux but it is also worth looking at tongue tie and getting Lo allergy tested
