Not walking yet?

I have a 17 month old DS. He has been cruising around furniture from around 12 months and can walk holding one finger. He is not walking by himself yet but he does "walk" on his knees. Has anyone seen this before? I'm curious to know if it's common. I'm not worried yet as I know he is within the normal perimeters of walking age but I can't help but wonder. His two older brothers both walked independently within a week of their first birthday.

Dd1 walked when she was 18 months. As you say, within the normal range, but it felt like she was late compared to peers.
Dd2 was 11 months, not sure about dd3 but about 13 months I think.

Hi. My oldest son walked a few days after his 1st birthday. The middle one was 17 months and my youngest was 19 months. What was quite amazing though was that my late walker went from not being able to walk at all in the morning to walking everywhere like he had been doing it for months by the same afternoon. I think when they walk late they are much more steady when they finally do it.

My DD2 has just started walking a bit unaided at 18 months and she does the knee walking thing sometimes. I think she just feels a bit more confident slightly closer to the ground. She also does it if she wants to carry something. Don't worry they all get there in the end!

Thank you so much. I was after a bit of reassurance! His Dad is back on Saturday after 2 months away so DS is probably just waiting for him. I was curious about the knee walking so I'm so glad to hear that it is not uncommon. Feeling rather relieved now!
