Anyone else using the long weekend to potty train?

So far we have 2 x accidents, zero wees in potty...

DD is 2.1, and has been stripping off and asking for her potty for a few weeks. She's at nursery so sees others which has promoted the interest.

I will be using the two weeks :) dreading it tbh. I don't think dd is anywhere near having a clue but for some reason her potty training seems to be the hot family topic Hmm

Yes, it seems to provoke a lot of interest. She has just soaked her armchair and is now very upset and asking for a nappy so I thing we may start again tomorrow.

We were thinking about it, although probably towards end of the week (we're on holiday all week). DD is also 2.1 and will take her own nappy off and use the potty for wees and poos so I think she's almost there. Might use all the chocolate eggs she's bound to get as treats for success.

Nooooooo ..... if you leave it till the right time they will be dry in a day with no accidents. And as for dummy's - they will dump them themselves when they have had enough - they don't give you buck teeth or delayed speech. Enjoy your Easter with no tears and plenty of Wine. Life is tooooo short Grin

Blush she is behind in her speech it's definately time to ditch it. As for toilet training well..... She may surprise me I never know what goes on in her head she's a surprising child :o

We are!! We had a go yesterday afternoon but after a morning if soft play she was really tired and we had three on the floor and five in the potty.

Today one on the floor and >10 in the potty so going well I think.

She's 2.9 and I've been dreading it. I've made dp take a week off work Blush

Was going to but I'm ill and our washing machine has packed in.

Good luck!

Three years ago I did it with DD1 who was 2.6 at the time. By Easter Monday she was dry with a handful of wee accidents since. Unfortunately it was months before she stopped doing poos in her pants so I am in no hurry with DD2 who is 2.7.

Good luck though. At least there is lots of chocolate around for bribery rewards.

i was going to. Started yesterday and he held all morning for over 4 hours!!! said he wanted to be back in nappies. Ended up putting him back in a pull up in afternoon, seems likes hes physically ready but not emotionally, gonna wait for warmer weather

Us too! DS is 3.2 and has probably been ready for a while but moving house etc has meant we've left it until now. Not a bad first day. 7 wees on the toilet and 1 poo. 2 accidents. Haven't really been out the house though. A challenge for tomorrow.

I'm on day 7, had all week off work and DD 2.5 and showing all of the 'signs' so I've gone for it. She's never done anything in the potty until this week and today everything went in the potty so we're getting there Smile. I've been firm though and not put her in nappies at all in the day and I'm not using pull ups either. The first few days were awful from a cleaning up mess point of view but you just have to get through it!

I'm going on a long train journey with her tomorrow though so am v. nervous!

Good luck to you all!

Mummyonthemove we have been in all day today. Might take her to the park over the road tomorrow, people visiting sun and mon then maybe go out Tuesday. We are only on day one though.

Also agree should go cold turkey no nappies or pull ups except at night time

We were going to with ds who is 2.6, but he has this horrible diarrhoea bug, at least the vomiting has stopped, but we had to it him in the shower this morning at 7, bless him. So will be delayed until its warmer..and safer,,I think.

Well after an accident free morning dd just did a wee and poo in her knickers. Only on day two though. I'm not enjoying this...

Report
mewkins · 30/03/2013 22:49

How do you get from being able to wee in a potty to them realising they need to go? I am very lazy - dd now 2.8 and though she wees in her potty each evening, is quite happy to wee all day in her nappy and denies it when you ask. I will tackle it once it warms up a bit and I don't have to dress her in 14 layers I think.

LittlePandaBear · 31/03/2013 11:36

mewkins - I think you may need to take the nappies away from her and accept that accidents will happen as she gets used to it. When she realises that it's not nice to wee in her knickers, she may improve her bladder control and use the potty.

Good luck Smile

Mewkins you definitely need to get rid of the nappy. It's unlikely she will request the potty if she's wearing a nappy Smile

We've been doing it since Friday, DD is 2.7 It's been far from plain sailing, first day hit and miss, wee'd on the potty 5 times but had 6 accidents, yesterday was a nightmare, she only went on the potty when I caught her mid flow. 3 pairs of wet knickers already today but we're not giving in! I'm back in work on Tuesday so we'll see Smile
