Toddler with poor growth

My ds has a hospital appointment tomorrow to follow up on his asthma and also his growth which seems to be slow. I put him on the scales tonight and he's barely grown in the last 6 months. His height has also remained the same. Does anyone else have experience of children with poor growth and no apparent explanation. My ds eats fairly well. Dh and myself are average heights.

My dd's growth ground to a halt when she a toddler. She was otherwise bouncy and happy
but pot bellied and in retrospect didn't have
as much energy as she should have (but we didn't
notice it at the time - she seemed to have plenty
of energy). In our case it turned out to be
Coeliac disease - she was diagnosed when she
was 3 and her height has almost caught up with
the rest of her class now. I do know another family with a v small child who still have no
answers...but my advice would be to be persistent
and just keep asking if you are worried.

DD is almost 2 and has weighed 27lbs for months - really honestly apart from when she had tonsilitis and it dropped to 26lbs but bounced back. It hasn't occurred to me to worry about this - other than thinking she will never make it to 33lbs for the next stage of car seat. Blush

Sorry no help. DD also eats well.

The doctor agreed with me today that his growth is not as good as it should be. I've got to go back again in 6 months. If its no better they will start to investigate.

Eek

Dd is 4 this year and is 28lbs. She hasn't grown for at least six months. She doesn't really eat much though. We had had her looked at by various professionals but they can't find anything wrong with her.

I DO remember when I was a child that my mother went through similar things with me, and I remember growth hormones being mooted at one point. However, I am five foot now which is perfectly reasonable!

My ds1 didn't grow a single inch between his 3rd and 4th birthday, was still in 2-3 clothes, and his feet were still the same size. In the last 4 months, he has grown 5" and gone up 2 shoe sizes, and is wearing some 4-5 clothes. As long as he's healthy and happy, I wouldn't worry too much.

similar to Eek - dd is 4.5 and is 32 lbs and has been for months and months also doesnt eat that much and just picks at food all day as wont eat a "meal" my mum was talked to about growth hormones for me as well but never went down that route - im 5 2 now ! I think id rather slightly under than over but would want to know if a specific reason for it i suppose!

My ds is almost 20 months and is only 22 pound. He has been gluten free for 6 months but it has made no difference, he is just small all over, he still wears shoes for 9-12months and is in 1yr old clothing. He is under a paediatrition but they cant find why he has slow growth so just monitor him. I think some kids are just small, some grow in bursts and some grow almost constantly.

kids grow in fits and starts and tend to grow more in the summer than the winter apparently.
