Behaviour/development

Is this a cause for concern?

DS1 (9yo) walks home from school, on his own. It's out of the school gate, across the zebra crossing and about 300 yds.

I can see him from the front window most of the way and I've noticed he is always talking to himself on the way home. Some of the conversations look very animated and often he looks cross or upset.

When I open the door and say "good day?" he always says yes, tells me a bit of news and generally seems happy and cheerful.

He doesn't deny talking to himself, but won't tell me what it's all about. He says it is himself he's talking to, there's no imaginary friend.

Sounds as if he?s decompressing after a long hard day at school ? maybe replaying some of the things that happened during the day, maybe saying the things he wishes he?d said! No harm in it.
