7 year old girl wet the bed last night for the first time ever...should I worry?

Never done it before, says she is not worried about anything, happy at school, no-one being mean. Things calm at home, although DH's job wobbly, but she has been reassured about tht (after overhearing a conversation). Said she dreamed she was having a wee and it seemed very real. Am hoping it's a one off.

Anyone else had this? Anything I can do to prevent it becoming an issue? Played it down loads and DH and I both said we'd done the same and she's not to worry about it.

It may well be a one off. I remember doing the same once at 8 or 9 - dreamt I had a wee and wee'd.

Both of mine were dry at night from potty trained but both have very very occasionally wet their beds - not necessarily a problem. I would just keep an eye to see she is weeing as usual - they can wet the bed if they have a water infection sometimes.

My dd is almost 7, about 4 or 5 months ago she wet the bed. She said she had a dream she was on the toilet and woke up weeing. Think these thijngs happen sometimes and nothing to worry about.

I agree with what MoaningMinge says, but I would add that you shouldn't be tempted to reduce liquids, as this can irritate the bladder, and actually make things worse.

More than likely, it's a one off.

I certainly woudn't worry - these things happen.
I would however be thanking your lucky stars that she has only wet the bed once in 7 years. I'm sure it will happen again sometime - but would only start to worry if it becomes a regular occurence.

8-yo DD1 wet her bed in the spring this year - no reason, just happened. She was distressed but I just told her sometimes these things happen and not to worry. She hasn't done it again. Would second the person who said to keep an eye on possible urine infection - DD2 got one which didn't cause her pain weeing but did mean that she didn't get to the toilet on time. After a couple of incidents over a day or so (not managing to do the short walk home from school without wetting for example) we took her to the GP and her urine sample showed an infection.

Ok, seems par for the course then, will keep an eye out for infection and keep her fluids normal, thank you alll!

I think it's a one-off too - I can also remember doing this once when I was 7 or 8 - never had problems before or since. Think I must have forgotten to go to the loo before bed and likewise had a dream about weeing. Don't make a big deal out of it though - I was so worried it would happen again when staying at friend's houses that I almost couldn't let myself drop off to sleep and was forever sneaking to the loo in the night!
