Bed Wetting 5 YO (again)

Hi I posted a while back and tried a few of the idea s that were suggested but I have had no luck. My DD was 5 in February and still wets the bed twice a night most nights. She is a tiny bit better now in that once a week she wakens when she has done it. The rest of the time she can sleep right through till morning and the only indication she has wet is the smell. Does anyone have any suggestions please. Need HelP!!!!!

has she EVER been dry at night?

if not can i suggest the hormone that needs to 'kick in' (that stops us produsing daytime amounts of urine at night) has not yet kicked in with your daughter so you are facing a loosing battle

it kicks in anywhere between 2 and 7 depending on the child, normally.

probably easier to go back nappies, cause until that happnes she hasnt got a chance and she cant control it or do anything about it til it kicks in naturally anyway!

My ds was 5 in Feb too, he still wears nappies at night, I have no intention of trying anytime in the near future, as his nappy is still very wet every morning. Personally I would put her in pull ups through the night, to save youself hassle of changing all the bedding twice a week.

Try again in the summer, when she's a bit older and won't get so cold if she's lying in a wet bed. (My dd's 5 and exactly the same, btw!)

My dd turned 5 this week, and her pull-ups have been very very wet in the mornings recently. Not even going to attempt going without as I know she won't wake up, but will sleep in a wet bed. I don't think it's that big a deal - look there's loads of us in the same boat here! Smile

my dd goes to an enuresis clinic. Advice given to me which has improved things are

  1. no blackcurrant at all.
  2. no tea, chocolate or fizzy drinks 2 hours before bed
  3. no light on at night (give your dd a torch if she is not keen)

4 no lifting to go toilet when you go to bed.
  1. drink 6-8 cups of drink during the day to increase bladder capacity.
