Do toddler feet size have any connection with (future) height?

I've posted recently about my 2 year old son being small and if the 'twice their height at 2' measure applies, he'll be small

A couple of posters said that feet size matters more

And this has worried me

He has tiny feet 3.5 (4 at best) and they've barely grown - 2.5 when first measured.

Should I be worried about this and take it further?

I have no idea but we're a tall family and my dds have size 5.5 (18months) and 7.5 (2 1/2).

Are you a smaller family? Was he premature? We're a giant tall family and I have beanpoles! Apart from dd1. She's always been little but has shot up recently (aged 14) but is still only about 5'5".

I'm sure everything is fine but rather than worrying about it you'd be better off speaking to a GP or HV who will put your mind at rest.

I think what's more of an indicator is your own size, and your DH's. Are you both small? If so, your DS is likely to be small too. My 23mo DS is quite big for his age (was around the 90th% for height last time we had him measured and has size 6 feet) but I'm under no illusion that he will be tall. I'm 5'3" and DH is 5'8" so at some point I'm sure DS will be overtaken by his peers.

You're obviously worried though so why not speak to your GP/HV to see if you can have any growth issues ruled out. At least then you can put your mind at rest.
