Vitamin supplements in babies

My little boy is 7 months old, and was born 5 weeks early. He's fully breastfed, and has been having solids for a few weeks. He eats plenty of food, and has a mixed and good diet.

My health visitor told me today that he should have vitamin supplements if I planned to continue giving breast milk as his only milk.

Has anyone heard of this before?

She may be fretting about the iron content of his diet as the reserves he was born with will deplete over time. However as long as he has a varied diet he should be fine. Also Vitamin D is sometimes recommended due to our limited exposure to direct sunlight.
