At what age do babies eyes change colour?

My dd is 7months and has the most beautiful blue eyes. I keep expecting them to change to brown as this is the dominant colour in our family. Is it likely they could still change or will they stay blue??

I would say at 7mo most likely they will stay.
My only colour changer was ds2 and his went from blue via grey to greeny-brown from about 4mo.

As far as i know they would have changed within weeks of the birth so i would think at 7 months they are going to stay beautifully blue

My eye colour changed from blue to green around the age of five - I have the school photos to prove it!

DS is 4 next week. He was born with lovely bright blue eyes. They have been changing to green gradually and I would say his eyes were more green than blue now.

I think that they usually change within the first year. Both my DH and I have brown eyes and our daughter has blue, I kept expecting hers to change and they never have - she is now 2.

dd1 (now nearly 6) has pale blue eyes, even though me & dh have hazel eyes, as do most of our families, so I don't think they'll change now.

By the time they are 6 months they have usually changed if they are going to. Both my DS's eyes had changed from blue to brown by 3 months.

My nieces' eyes changed colour late - one turned gradually from blue to green over the first year, and then from green to brown over the next two or three. My younger niece had stunning blue eyes at 2, but they turned green somewhere along the way - still stunning, though...

dd1's eyes didn't change to their final colour - green - until she was past 2.

dd2 is only 3 months old, but hers are already going green. i expect they'll change to brown, however.

My DS2s' eyes were a sort of 'murky blue' & looked like they'd change colour(as it wasn't a true blue). So I kept watching them for his 1st year. After that I stopped watching as didn't know eye colour could change later on. It wasn't until he was 3 that we noticed his eyes had indeed changed to a lovely bluey green mixture & just like DH's!

DS2 was born with deep brown eyes. DP and I both have blue eyes and so do all our parents and ds1, so it was pretty noticeable. We kept looking at them because we couldn't believe it - and we watched them change to blue over the course of his first hour! They are now beautiful blue and people still comment.

Thanks everyone - its actually really nice to hear about all your dd's and ds's lovely eyes. My ds (2yrs) also has the most amazing chocolatey brown eyes and really long lashes, dd's eyes have changed a little since birth, they are no longer that very dark newborn blue but a very bright blue, looking at them there are hints of grey so we may not have the final colour yet.

I was amazed to hear about eyes changing colour in childhood - this must be quite unusual I expect... I guess I'll have to take lots of photos so we'll have a good record of any changes.

DS2 had grey eyes until he was 2, when they went hazel and are now brown, like DH. Is this unusual? Mine change colour, depending on the season. In summer they are more blue, then greener in winter.

ds1s changed late (1 ish)from that baby slate colour to the most gorgeos amber brown. I could lose myself in his eyes :) Ds2, similar time but went from a grey to hazel with green grey flecks. DD? Who knows! Still slate at 8 weeks.
