star charts! hate them or love them?

ds 2 has one at school,not convinced it is the right thing to do, but teacher reckons they work so going along with it!
spoke to S.E.N lady at gate about Ds (who i think is v.excitable rather than naughty)and she said that ds needs to manage his own behaviour,which i agree with. so is a chart teaching him this? opinions!!!
btw. he's almost an angel at home! Grinso whats going on at school?

i think they're a great idea!
they do teach them to manage their own behaviour... they know they need to behave in a certain way to get a star

I've found them a dismal failure with my children. As well as my children making a big fuss about my criticising their bad behaviour, they then made a big fuss about not getting a star, and then about not getting the reward for n stars. As for the stars liberally handed out at school, none of the children seem even to remember what they got them for, so I can't see how they can be that much of an incentive to behave.

Hate them!!! I think they just make kids feel more naughty,as all the kids know they have it because their naughty.
My ds has had kids call out "hello naughty *** how many stars did you get today"? Angry
