21 month old started waking in night......

.....I know yawn, yawn same old thing. But I really am yawn, yawning. Try giving a cup of milk - usually works a treat and she goes straight back to sleep.

However this last week....

... after milk she goes back to bed and cries and cries, if she does go back to sleep she wakes again and cries a few hours later. This morning 1am, then 3am, then 4.30pm

What could it be:

  1. I started a fulltime job this week, she is at nursery more days - upheaval? To be honest it started last week so am doubtful it is this.

  2. Teething? She has four front teeth, 2 incisors and 2 molars and the bitey ones. ie 10 on each level. Is that a full set, or are there for to come. The incisors are recent additions and caused her no noticeable discomfort. Infact teething has not really bothered her most times. She doesn't seem in pain when awake.

Any ideas. Am knackered and will have to go to bed sooooooon as have to get up at 6am anyway.

Thank you in advance helpful Mnetters, and hello all as not been here much recently and first post is this cry for help.

Hi Flum - had wondered idly where you were

When does she nap during the day? What's she eating during the day? Er...

Can you try giving her a drink of water when she wakes up? 20 teeth is a full set btw.

Had this with DS recently.

I didnt mind going in now and then at night but I think he just got used to it and it built up to three/four times.

Fiddled about with naps, went through the usual but in the end I think he was just trying it on so just left him to have a bit of a shout and after a couple of nights, bingo, back to normal.

DD3 did this recently too, agree with madmarchhare pay it as little attention as you can and they get back to normal soonish.

mmm 20 is a full set is it. had more or less convinced myself it was teething. Might have to go for a recount.

Naps, have been less than normal. i think she finds it difficult to sleep at nursery. they say she only usually has an hour. Always at least 2 when she is at home.

Does she have a cold ? My 2 year old did this for a week before we realised that she had earache - lying flat causes pressure changes. We only realised something medical was up when she eventually started running a temperature, she had had a slight cold all week - soon after this gunk started to come out of her ear , she had a middle ear infection , poor love
