Not standing at 12 months?

Just wondering if i'm the only on ereally, as DS was standing on my lap at 5 months...
DD will be 1 on saturday but still doesn't stand. If we hold her sometimes she'll stand, very wobbly, for a bit, but doesn't try to stand by herself or spend any time standing when we hold her. she's very good at crawling and "stands" on her knees all the time with no problems. We have niticed that she turns out her feet a lot so that when she is standing there is no part of the sole on the floor, just theinner side of her foot. Have been to see HV who is again going to refer her (was meant to have done this 2 months ago).
Should I be worried?

I'm not ignoring you but I haven't come across this. It does sound like she should be referred as I'm sure they check for weight bearing at 6-9 month check don't they?

my dd didnt stand until she was 13 months and didnt walk till she was 19 1/2 months so probably nothing to worry about just yet

I wouldn't be worried about a child not having 'desire' to stand, and not attempting to pull up at all. But if you are concerned about her not being able to hold her weight when you try and stand her, then yes i would want her to be referred. I'd ask GP to refer, so you can be sure it gets done - hv doesn't sound to trustworthy!

phew! thanks for your replies. It's been niggling away at me for a while now.

When she was tiny, I wished she could stay a tiny baby forever. Maybe I should be more careful what I wish for!

I agree i think it is perfectly normal for children to not be walking or standing by a year. It was just the weight bearing that i would want to be checked.

my dd doesn't weight bear at 13 months. she's a bottom shuffler. The doc said to bring her back at 16 months, if nothing else wrong. Hope that - sort of - puts yr mind at rest
