I would stop with the aqquis cream as that can sometimes make it worse, keep using sudocrem after each change.

I don't know if the crying is down to the bottom or teething, but I didn't find sudocream much use, I don't know if it is very strong chemicals, but seemed to make dd's bottom worse. I've been using Bepanthin which seems to work really well. If dd's bottom is a bit red first thing in the morning, I put some on after her nappy is changed and repeat after each change and by lunchtime colour is usually back to normal.

i have used zinc and castor oil since birth. Ds bum became red a couple of weeks ago, couldnt work it out then a few days later his first tooth appeared. Bum now back to normal!

Hi Diva,
Whenever I am indoors I only ever use water and cotton wool on dd's bottom. I only use wipes when I'm out and about. Leaving your dd nappy off regulary will help her bottom too.
BTW, if she has been waking in the night she probably is teething.

I found Metanium was much better for bad nappy rash than Sudacreme. That said, a woman at the chemist (in the queue!) told me that Sudacreme over the top of a layer of Vaseline works wonders - and as thats all I had at the time, I tried it and it DID.

DD nearly always had some degree of rash/redness when teething...which was most of the time between 6 and 20 months...

Before I started using metanium, ds's bottom would always stay red for a few days. Metanium does the trick every time very quickly and you only need to use a tiny bit. If you do try this product out, wipe your hands on a wipe quickly as it does tend to overflow out of the tube.

the chemicals in wipes can be very abrasive (apparently some types can remove PERMANENT MARKER PEN STAINS!! - no wonder babies get sore butts).

At home I use water and some cheap face cloths that I bought especially for the job. I only put zinc & castor cream on about once a day.

I try and have time off every day (at least 20 minutes) without a nappy.

Did the same for ds, and neither have had nappy rash.
