Ds2 is 19 months now and has been saying Daddy since he was 12 months.

He will say other words like 'wakey wakey' and 'yes' 'no' and 'love you' but he has never said 'mommy'

I really want to hear him say it - am even getting paranoid that im not a good enough mom!

Nooo, don't be silly!

My ds2+3 didn't say mum/mummy or anything that refered to me until they were over 2yrs.

I was glad as it mwant they couln't shout my name 1,000,000 time a day.

oooohhhh he will. he will. you are such a good mum, so totally present to him and engaged with him, that he doesn't have to say it.

it will be absolutely great when it happens. You could try spending less time with him but it will happen.

Oh goodness, don't be daft! Daddy is an easier word to get their mouths around than Mummy, and it's perfectly normal for them to use Daddy first.

Plus, he probably hears Daddy referred to as Daddy more often than he hears you referred to as Mummy.

Please don't take it personally - it doesn't mean you're not a good mum, it just means it's a difficult word for him to say.

ds called us both daddy until he was about 2.5 yrs, so don't worry! And it doesn't mean you look like a bloke, before you ask...

LOL Huggybear - this was my major concern a couple of months ago (see this thread )

Well I can update that now at 21 months he never stop saying/shouting mummy. He just said it one day out of the blue and hasn't stopped since. It will happen! HTH

DD now 4 called me Dapa for ages then Dad, Papa & Daddy got their own proper titles. When she was a couple of weeks off her 2nd birthday I heard a little girl in the airport shouting on her Mummy, very clearly, I was talking to some relatives at the time & thought how I wish it was me - lo & behold it was! It was totally out of the blue & so clear it was as if she'd been saying it for yonks.
Like everyone else says though once you've heard it 1000 times a day you can get a bit sick of it, although DD now 4 is occasionally calling me Mum & I don't like that I prefer Mummy we're never happy.

HB dont worry about it. DS said daddy from about 14mths and blatantly refused to say mummy. Now at 2.1yrs it is all he says..he started about 2mths ago and hasntstopped..lol
