Baby names

Do you suggest names you don't like if they fit the OP's requirements?

Usually I suggest names I like which I think the OP might like too. However, sometimes I suggest names I'm not so keen on if I think the OP might like them.

How about you, do you

  1. Suggest names you like, which fit what the OP is looking for?

  2. Suggest names you like, even if they don't fit what the OP is looking for?

  3. Suggest names you don't like, if they fit what the OP is looking for and you think the OP might like them?

Or any combination of the above?

I have never done it on MN, but in RL I did offer names I really dislike to a friend, and she chose one of them!

I do all three. I'd probably say that more often I suggest names that I am 'indiffferent' to rather than don't like.

yes, i'd suggest names i was indifferent to if they were in the same style as the op's (far more awful) choices. have done that loads.

I never suggested anything I didn't like myself, just in case he really liked it.

Oh, I misread, I thought OP was DP hence the irrelevance of my post above...

With a poster on Baby Names, I try to follow directions.

I do 1 mostly and sometimes 3. Tho tbh if I don't like the kind of names the OP likes I don't post, often enough.

Sometimes offer "helpful" comments re popularity etc - my DC are all at school and I know a lot of school-aged children so am awre of how many Olivers and Matthews etc there are.

So most often post when OP's ideas chime with mine - easier then. Eg on Blake or Brandon thread I could only say I like dneither; didn't really have any ideas that would fit as choices were so far from mine.

Mainly 1) but a bit of all three. However I never suggest a name I totally loathe and tend not to post when I don't share the same taste in names as the OP.
