I think they are both pretty awful, esp Noah.

I don't like Jasper for the reasons ski said. It has quite a precise image/stereotype which might be difficult to spend your life fighting against. Its a bit like Tarquin in that respect.

I don't like Noah because its not a nice sounding name and I don't like the "No, Noah. Noah, Noah. NO! Argh!" aspect.

If I had to pick one I would go for Jasper becsuse at least its a pleasent sounding word.

I had a boyfriend call JaspAr when he was history, we named one of our Burmese cats Jaspar. I have friends with a Jasper. I love the name, better than Noah as I know two little girls called Noa(h)

Jasper is a fruity biscuit and is a silly, daft name for a child. As well as that, it sounds like jester so every time I hear it I think of some bloke with a Mr Bean face and a silly hat.

Noah is the better of the two by far but you could do better.

Honest enough?

I like both! We had Noah on our list if we had a boy (had a girl.

Maybe some people might think it has connotations of posh-public school types for both names, but frankly, do you give a monkey's?? Although, just worth considering whether choice of name will in fact have his head down a loo (as per ski's uber-honest opinion) depending on where you send him to school - in any case, he'll need to learn to stick up for himself, and if kids don't tease him about his name - Jasper or Noah - then it'll be ears, nose, legs, whatever! Go with the one you like.

I like Jasper a lot. It doesn't have any weird connotations for me but I guess we do live in an area full of the types skihorse mentions, so maybe it does depend on where you live?

Noah's great too but I think it could be getting v popular.

I prefer Jasper, though it is quite 'posh'.
Noah is v. popular so will be the more usual name. I seem to be the only person who associates Noah with an old beardy man with an ark full of animals.

I love both names and think skihorse is hilarious!

You just have to pick the name you prefer and don't get too pre occupied with what other people think. There is always going to be a difference of opinion.

My mum wanted to call my sister Stephanie, but didn't because she was convinced that if she got bullied at school they would call her "fanny" I kid you not.

Really don't like Noah - hate the sound of it

I really like them both! Would be tempted to go with Jasper though.

I think Jasper is quite posh but Noah definitely not! It's very common (as in not posh). I don't like either name much but would go for Jasper.

I hate Jasper. Bloody horrible name. Makes me cringe everytime I see it on a baby name shortlist.

I like Noah but it has become quite common, especially in the US where it's super common now.

noah, definitely noah, jasper is a cats name

I love Jasper! They are both nice names though, I don't think either is "posh" or "common", but I guess it depends on where you live etc as some other members have suggested....
