Hello, I've become a bit besotted by the name Amalia if this bump turns out to be a little girl. I'm due on 26th so not long now... just struggling to come up with a middle name - My surname is one syllable so was thinking something short for middle name - something like Rose but not Rose as everyone seems to be using it!
DH not keen on Grace but I'd like something along those lines - any ideas? Time is ticking!

Are you set on Amalia -you do know that you are going to spend your life (and so will she) saying "No, Amalia, not Amelia"

Agree with seeker on the Amelia point - and I know 5 Amelias born in the last year so altho not exactly the same name, be prepared for it not to be as uncommon as you might like.
Amalia Iris and Amalia Elizabeth both lovely though.

Thanks for all your feedback - am rather keen on Amalia Elizabeth OR what do you think about Amalia Josephine??

I realise that the name might create confusion re: Amelia - I could spell it differently - Amalya or Amalyah - Any thoughts?

Personally I would drop the A at the front and just go for Malia which is a really pretty name on it's own and would save the Amelia confusion too

Don't change the spelling -- the versions with y are really ugly. Far better to have to explain all the time.

I like Amalia.

Sorry not a fan of Amalia at all, her entire life will be spent correcting people.

People will mispronounce Amalya and Amalyah.

Report
seeker · 22/04/2010 16:30

Changing the spelling won't help - people will just keep asking how to pronounce it, which is equally irritating. Why not just go for Amelia?
