Name for DS2

DS2 is one week old tomorrow, and we've been going round in circles about names - please throw in your thoughts!

He was a hefty 10 lbs, so think we need a substantial name - but I'd also like a cute short version to call him while he's little.

Our shortlist is

Edward (Teddy/Ted)
Theodore (Teddy/Ted, not so keen on Theo)
Oscar
Benjamin (Ben, not so keen on Benji)
Joseph (Joey/Joe)

Brother to Harry!

I love Edward (nn Ned or Ted) and it goes very well with Harry. If you want Ted not Theo i'd have Edward rather than Theodore.

Oscar difficult to shorten

Joseph not used much and a good name, also good with Harry. Harry & Joe.

Harry and Joe sound great together. Congratulations!

Yeah Theodore will get shortened to Theo.

I personally like Edward with Ted/Teddy as a NN. Goes well with Harry too.

Love them all. I wouldn't go with one where you don't like all the possible NNs because it's inevitable that he will be called by it at some point!

From the remaining three, I'd go with with either Edward or Joseph as Oscar sounds a bit strange with Harry (if that bothers you). Personally, I prefer Joseph.

I like Edward - Ted, but please if you're every going to come to Scotland don't use Ned as thats a wee scumbag gadgie in a shellsuit/baseball cap and too much gold jewellery

congrats - big babies are gorgeous

Thank you MNers! We're going to go with Joseph!

Tried it out all afternoon after reading first few replies and it has stuck now.

Though have to get out of week long habit of calling him 'the baby...
