Delilah rhymes with our surname. Ridiculous or ok?

DH and I are really struggling to agree on girl's names akthough we're pretty much there with a boy's name (I've posted a separate thread on this)

One name we both really like is Delilah but... it rhymes with our surname! Initially we both thought that would be too comical but(probably in desperation as we can't find another girl's name that feels like 'the one') DH has started wondering if we're worrying too much and actually it would be fine.

Our surname is double-barrelled and is similar to Bank-Tyler, so the full name would be:

Delilah Bank-Tyler

We thought the only way to get a truly honest opinion on this was to put it out to you guys - so, please do your worst, if you think it's really silly then don't hold back to save our feelings!

I know it's not your actual name but "Delilah Bank-Tyler" (or similar) is really stylish. But agree it would sound silly without the middle bit.

Also I bet people who are called Delilah get called a short version eg Del, Dellie, Della etc so it might not affect her daily life much anyway.

Just to be clear our name is VERY similar to Bank-Tyler so it will rhyme in exactly the same way.

I always do the conference call test with names: e.g. would I feel embarrased joining a conference call and announcing myself as 'Delilah Brook-Tyler'?! I'm not sure...

I like it My dd4 is called Tilly-Grace Lilley and people remarked on the rhyming part for the first week bu now no one notices it. I loved the name Delilah too but dp vetoed it

It's number of syllables that's part of the problem too. If you imagine some other similar situations eg Sayonara MacNamara, Carolina Barrow-Miner, Rowena Carr-Deaner. Would you not snigger (allbeit in your head) if you met one of those?

My dn is a Delilah and mostly is called Lilah. Unfortunately, her surname makes her sound like a popular tourist destination off the south coast.

I think with the bank bit it would be fine.... we had a similar problem in that our surname is tyler and if we had a girl LOVED the name Isla... but a def NO NO... luckly we have just had a boy
