What do you think of Thora?

Just curious really. I like it but it has been vetoed by my other half.

Any other ideas would be good as second baby girl is due in 6 weeks and we have nothing! Our first daughter is called Amelia Eve.

Thora Hird is the big problem here!! Damn those Stannah chair lift adverts.

And the rhyming slang.

Have to agree with PPs. Lovely though Miss/Ms/Mrs Hird was... (is?)

How about
Amelia and Clara/Clemency/Genevieve/Luisa...?

Yup, forgot about that. Other half pointed that out to me too.

Thora - instantly reminded me of Thora Hird.

How about Thea?

iambrianblessed · 28/03/2010 22:48

I quite like Clara, so that could be an option.

Dame Thora rest in peace!

Thea is nice too - I like the idea of something short and simple.

Thanks for the opinions/ideas so far!

Thora Hird deffo springs to mind. Also passage from Pursuit of Love "... Uncle Matthew had a new record called 'Thora'. 'I come from a land of roses but dream of a land of snow. Speak, speak, SPEAK to me Thora'... It spoke to our mood exactly and Thora seemed the most poignantly beautiful of names'.

Thea is adorable.

It's actually a lovely name when I think about it, but does remind me of Hird.

Had a chat and a sleep on it and now looks like we might go with Thea - thank you nannynick (and tethersend ).

Actually think I might start to prefer it to Thora.

You've all been a great help

Glad to have been of help.
I know 1 Thea, so not sure how popular the name is, though your DD won't be the only one with that name.

SaintGeoff · 29/03/2010 08:21

Thora is lovely.

Thea's nice too but popular now and I'd expect Thora to beat her in a fight battle of feistiness.

Thea pronounced Thee-ah or Taya? Both lovely, btw.
