Is Pixie a ridiculous middle name? Or cute? First name will be sensible!

Fine as a mn.

Pixie is just ridiculous. Sorry.

Lovely as a nickname. Silly as a given name. Yes it is cute but if I has a daughter I'd want her to aspire to other things, as well as being cute.

ok as a MN, but you just know the child will end up most un-pixie like in stature and appearance, because that is murphys law.

I like it as a middle name. Middle names aren't that important imo. Well, not as important. I wouldn't think it was great as a first name.

i like it as a first name.

Reminds me of Pixie Geldof sorry!!

Middle name or nickname is OK but I wouldn't give it as a first name.

I know a Pixie (a mum in her 30s), but its her nickname used by friends and family not her birth certificate name.

Fine as a pre-school NN. After that? No, not IMO.

Well I was going to say, don't be ridiculous, you can't have a Dr Pixie but, of course you can. Dr Pixie McKenna from Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies

It is still an absolutely ridiculous, childish name though.

AWFUL! Please save your child from that!

I just can't stand the thought of a poor adult having that name

Er nope. Pixie geldof. Not a lot to aspire to there

I knew a Pixie at university, but it was a nn, short for Patrixia (she was of Italian descent). Thought it was pretty cool, and she carried it off well.

Norbert, she'd be in her mid-thirties now - wonder if it's the same one you know!

I think it's a lovely name for a cute little girl. Personally,I'm relieved it's not my name now I'm "grown up"..... try imagining your life as an adolescent/student/worker/whatever called Pixie. If it still works for you, then go for it. If not, thent time to rethink

jesus wept.pixie=pointy ears or rich gal gone bad always in media name

I think it is ridiculous even as a middle name. Given names shouldn't be cute IMO, that's for baby nicknames (the ones you grow out of and then are hugely embarrassed when one of your parents forgets and uses it in front of your friends!)

Well, it's not a name is it?
As others have said, it's a not-terribly-nice (in folklore Pixies are not goodies) little thing that sits on toadstools and that...
It would also be unfortunate if she turned out to be a galumphin' great girl wrestler or something.
Just because Saint Bob used it, doesn't make it right.

Hehe - thanks for all the comments! Like a lot of you, my mother was also horrified by the idea! I must say I had forgotten about Pixie Geldof.

Well, maybe back to the drawing board then.

Not at all keen. Might make it a bit tricky if she joined the Brownies later and was put in a different six, too. I recommend revisiting the drawing board as you suggest!
