Baby names

More questions... BOYS NAMES

VermontMama · 28/03/2010 14:45

Here are some more names......

  • Raine
  • Forrest
  • Rowen
  • Ronan
  • Koa

And the questions:

My first son is Roshan, and we call him Ro and Roro. However, I love the Ro names... Ronan and Rowan. Is that horrible to have to Ro boys?

Koa. This is name suggestion from a friend I have in Hawaii. It means happy, and is a bit of a variation on one of my all-around favorite names, Noah. What do you think?

Finally, question about Noah. My first son's name was going to be Noah, before it became "popular." Is the name truly popular in that you know a lot of babies named Noah, or is it just popular on these baby naming boards?

And any thoughts welcome on Raine and Forest/Forrest.

Thanks

I don't know any children called Noah.

I have to be blunt and say that Forest/Forrest are just bizarre.

I also thought that Raine was a girls' name. Wasn't Princess Diana's mother named this?

Rainn may be the male spelling, sorry. Forest is odd to me too..... but intriguing somehow. I guess because I like nature related names and it's difficult to find nature names for boys (girl names- much easier).

I know of no Noah's where we are

I think Rowan and Ronan are too similar to your DS1

Raine I would also have thought for a girl

not keen on Forest/Forrest either, sorry

There was someone called Forrest in a movie though...Forrest Gump!

I know one Noah.

I wouldn't go for another Ro name. I think Forrest is fine.

Forrest would have many people telling him ruuuun... Not sure I would do that to my son.

What about Koa?

Adding 2 more:

-Scout
-Soloman (nn Sol, Solly)

Noah is lovely and I don't know any.

I think Roshan and Rowan sound silly together, though I do love Rowan.

Koa is absolutely hideous, imho. Dislike Raine and Forrest too.

I would say no to both boys having names starting with 'Ro', although Rowan is a lovely name.

I really dislike the name Noah. I know of a few baby boys with that name and it always makes me cringe. It's like Oscar, IMO, and sounds like the parents are trying to find a 'different' name but actually choosing one that is popular and not very nice.

I'm not keen on any of your suggestions, except Koa. It's different and does well with your other boy's name. The meaning is nice too.

I know of 2 noahs. One is 2, the other 6. I know a boy called Rainan which is quite nice.

I know of quite a few baby Noah's, must just depend where you live.

Also IMVHO not keen on any of the names - my mantra for boys names is "saints and kings". Can't go far wrong then.

Ronan, Rowan, or Solomon are great. Koa is nice, but maybe sounds a bit short and harsh compared to Roshan. Actually, tbh, I think Solomon sounds the best with Roshan.

Raine is too much of a girl's name.
Forrest sounds like too much of an attempt to encapsulate nature.

Love Rowan but, as others have said, it's just too similar to your DS's name. Personally, I really like Noah, although I can see what BuzzingNoise is saying. Your other suggestions, I'm afraid, I don't like. Solomon is a great name - I know a Solomon and he's one cool kid. Solomon and Roshan sound good together.

I only know one Noah. It's a pretty good name. Afraid I don't like the others apart from Rowan (which I don't think you can have)

I wonder if you would consider Solomon ?

Oops, I see mathanxiety has already mentioned Solomon

As did you Vermont - that is very spooky. Maybe Solomon is the name
