Irrational fear...

... that all the people I know (well, at least one of them perhaps) due before me might use the only name DH and I have agreed on.

That's ridiculous, right?

When are you due?

You might change your mind yourself by then anyway.

Your baby, so call it what you want!

Gonna share the name with us???

Only ridiculous if it's a popular name. If it's an unusual name, I can completely understand where you're coming from!

Tell them beforehand then they'd have to be really tactless to use it.

(not sure 'tactless' is the word I'm looking for but YKWIM)

I wouldn't tell them, because that puts it in their head.

Sorry to have posted and run... I'm due in July, the only name we agree on is Ted.

I don't like to tell people our name choice before the baby is born - have had bad experiences where people turn their noses up which they obviously wouldn't do once baby is here and named.

I suppose I'm just feeling precious about it as it is, literally, the only name we can agree on and we'd be pretty stumped if it were used by a close friend before our baby is born.
