Hello fellow mumsnetters!! Can you offer your opinions please...

My DH likes the name Jefferson, I quite like it but I HATE the shortened 'Jeff'.

We have a couple of other names on our short list (Dexter and Theodore) but DH has his heart set on Jefferson. What do you think?!

All your thoughts are welcome!!!

xx

The shortened version is what he'll get but the long version is nice enough and Dexter and Theodore are getting quite popular. I think if he gets Jeff but people know he's a Jefferson then it'll work out ok...

I'm afraid I though of that too.

Personally, I love it.

I have a friend who would def. call her DS (should she have one) Jefferson. I think it's a very cool name.

But, then, I have a Harrison - I like surnamy type names!

Drat! Was about to ask about airship/airplane but hanaflower got there first!

I like Jeff. Jefferson is a bit, well it's a sur name. But do you know what, I was going to say no. But it's grown on me. I like it more than I like Harrison.

Dexter is a serial killer to me. My favourite serial killer but stilll. Theodore, Ok, but too long. Theo very popular.

Makes me think Airplane too. Or Thomas Jefferson perhaps. Very surnamy, and highly likely to become Jeff. If you really dislike Jeff I don't think this is a good choice.

I LOVE it. Don't like Jeff but Jefferson is great!

It's a surname.

Don't like surnames.

And the shortened Jeff is just awful. It's like Keith and Brian.

I like Jefferson. Haven't heard of the airplane connection at all...

Theo (dor) is so trendy that I'd avoid it for that reason.

Dexter is ok, although I'm not sure I like the nickname Dex...

Lol thanks for all your comments! We heard the name from a writer and editor (Jefferson Hack) and DH still loves it! I think we will just argue this one out between ourselves!!
