I quite like this one, thinking of Carine Roitfeld the Vogue editor etc. I haven't heard of many either?

Also like:

Celia, Irene, Leonora, Dulcie, Caroline

  • Isn't it French and established though? Could be wrong!

It's ok,shouldn't it have 2 "r's" though ? or am I thinking of Corinne ?!

I prefer Cara / Clara / Cleo

Like. Though suspect she will spend her life saying it's not Karen. Also like Celia, Irene and Caroline.

I prefer the Careen spelling, like the character from Gone With The Wind.

Nice name and not trendy so shouldn't be popular in her age group.

Carine is very French and was very very popular there in the 70s.
Carine comes from Carina in Italian which means "little darling".

From your other choices:
Celia is my fav. It's a strong classic, but rarely used.

Ooooh, at the risk of outing myself in real life, my name is Carine (spelled just like you asked) and i totally love it. It does not have 2 'n's. In France a lot of people spell it 'Karine' but I prefer Carine.

I've never had a moment's doubt about it.

I too prefer Corine or Corinna

I love Celia and Cecelia - DD2s mn and sometimes wish I'd kept it for DD3

My French neighbour is called Carine. Lovely name.

Another similar name I love is Corinna, also Corinne is nice.
