I think you will find most names which don't even have the remotest chances of being shortened do.

My ds is Adam but gets Ads, Ad or Adsy.

My cousin is Laura and gets Loz.

Why don't you want the name to be shortened? Just realised that was one of your criteria and that all of the names I suggested can indeed be shortened. Quite hard to find one where a nick name is not an option I should think.

Why don't you want it to be shortened to form a nickname? Just curious.
My parents went out of their way to select a name that can't be shortened and doesn't have an obvious or attractive nickname.
And I have always been very slightly sad fact that no one in my life has a special name for me.

My ds is rory. We picked it for many of the same reasons you have set out. One point to note however my brother calls him Rorers - so whatever you pick people will find a way to create a nickname if they want to. Still wouldn't have picked anything else.

I knew a family once who went for "Iain" and "Mark" as undiminutive-able names.

Personally I don't think short names in total are a problem (as someone who grew up struggling with six syllables!). e.g. Mark Ford, Ian Day. Sounds fine. Cut out for success I'd say.

Can't think of an unshortenable name with two syllables. Derek?
