Thoughts on naming a little boy Bailey?

What do you think, any good?

I really like it, goes well with dd name which ends in an 'a'. Also works well with our surname.

Is it pretentious though.

My friend is calling her boy Bailey.
I asked her if she can see a bloke aged 20, 40 and 70 called Bailey.

That helps me decide.

Unless your Ds was conceived after drinking copious amounts of the stuff, I'd say no. Sorry, but to me it sounds like a girls name.

In my opinion it's exactly the opposite of pretentious. Not good.

All that matters is if you like it though.

its a surname imo.

I quite like it for a boy - sounds masculine to my ears.

If it works well with surname, and if you like it, then I'd go for it!

Hmmm... Consensus not great then...haha! Hasn't dampened my enthusiasm though, which is good at helping me decide.
To me, it's a masculine name, think it's fine for an adult too, and I have no strong feelings regarding the liqueur.

Ds due in about three months, so bit of time to ponder it still!

Its a good name for a boy dog.

I'd have thought it was - how can I put this? - the opposite of pretentious. Sort of the male equivalent of Chardonnay.

Grimma- know what you mean, but he himself won't be the male equivalent of Chardonnay (well, I hope!).

Would anyone go as far as to say it's as much of a cliche as Chardonnay though? Do tell me

It will alway's be a dogs name to me. Even though it certainly is becoming the male equilavent of Chardonnay where I live.

Sorry.

Awful in my honest opinion.

Definitely on a par with Chardonnay... and the opposite of pretentious.

Definitely the exact opposite of pretentious.

Isn't everyone being polite .

I posted my honest opinion on the other thread, but Ib will maintain the polite vibe of the thread and say the same as the others- it is the opposite of pretentious round these parts.

A small boy drops his coke on the floor
" who's is that?"
" Its Bailey's"
" are you sure - it looks like coke"

Think carefully before doing this - especially if your surname could potentially be a boy's name.

A friend named her child this but had a 'boy's name' surname (eg. James). Of course if you see the words Bailey James together, you automatically tend to think they're the wrong way round... he gets called James Bailey a lot!

Not keen. Too intertwined with the drink for me and I'm not overly fond of surname-esque first names.

I know three and all of them are little sods. So in my head it's a horrible name. But not keen on surnames as first names anyway tbh. Sorry.
