What does everyone think of Roberta Anne?

I'm sure she'll be Bobbie from day 1!

I love it.

I hope you don't mind me saying this but it does remind me of The Railway Children but I love that film and the character of Bobbie/Roberta. It's a lovely name.

Love it. It was on our shortlist.

I have to like it. That's my big sister's exact name - she's 46 now.

Report
springlamb · 09/01/2010 22:18

BTW she's always been a Bobbie. But with a 'y' on the end till she was 16, then she suddenly changed to an 'ie'.
She's always been one of a kind.

Love it, was at school with one (still known as Bert). Fab name.

I love it, and really want to use it for next lo, I prefer nn Bertie/Berta though.
Funnily enough I really do not like Robert for a boy though.

Forgot to add, I also really like Ernestine and Thomasina - but dh just laughs at me!

Thanks for all the comments - I'm not wild about Robert either, funny isn't it? And yes I like the Railway children connection.

Bertie is lovely but she has a cousin, Herbert, who is a Bertie so could be tricky!

DH's new favourite is Tallulah, Tilly or Lula for short. I like it, but not sure...

My cousin is Roberta. Poor girl spent her childhood being called "Dirty Birtie" by us her loving family. I still feel awful about it today.

Go for Roberta - Bobbie is fab (and, yes, also love Railway children) Shame you can't use Bertie as Albertine also nice.

Roberta's lovely. Can't think of anything wrong with it at all.

Tallulah is a stripper's name.

No.

Roberta does make me thing of Railway children and Jenny Agutter (sp?), which is a particular thing, but not a bad one. Also of Killing me Softly, equally not a bad association.

Tallulah makes me - a bit loolah! Would have to be the right personality to go with it (which is probably at the opposite end of the spectrum to a Roberta!)

I had Roberta on the shortlist for DD2. Turned out he was a DS, though.

I like tallulah too, but they're very different types of name!

I'd think which one is most 'like' the boys name you have and go with that. But I'm one of the odd ones who think that sibling names sould match...

To clarify, if your boys name is like Stanley, go with Roberta. (Classic)
If it's like Braden, go with Tallulah. (Modern)

I love roberta and think it is much underused. It would be on my shortlist were my father not called robert and someone I don't wish to honour.

I know a roberta, she is bobbie or bob, it's really cute.
