Too seventies. Also - Gary Glitter. Spelling it with two Rs doesn't change things.

He would definitely not have anyone else in the class with that name. Certainly 'unusual' in these times.

Is this a MN question that only got around to be typed now and actually you are located back in the 70's?

But I want him to work in advertising.

No no no no no no no

It was a horrible name even back in the seventies, and should be left there imo.

I thought it only had one R anyway?

Well, as I used to work in advertising, I think it's a perfect name.

Would he make stupid 'adverts' about women in particular?

Maybe he could work on Tena Lady or Tampax, as he is bound to grow up with much empathy?

I think it would be refreshing to meet a little baby Garry, instead of yet another Josh, Oscar, Alfie, Archie, Finn or whatever other names are 'in' at the moment. (Not that I don't like those names, before anyone gets offended.)

Anyway, My BIL is a Garry with two 'r's so I'm biased.

It has a certain ring to it, Lenin. I was going to be called Worthit, but thankfully my mother saw sense. What a dreadful, chavvy name that would have been.

Makes me think of the Only Fools and Horses episode with the 'illegal' immigrant.

Oh look. More of us are going to have to sit on the naughty step now. That's 50 minutes for me. Bugger.

I can't remember, but I don't think it was offensive. The best thing to do is to keep this window open and open MN again in another tab!

Oops, sorry MNHQ. I didn't even realise this was about HWMNBN until after I posted.

LG - It was a comment perhaps more suited to the traditional Friday night thread IYGWIM.
