Recipe of the week

penguinmum's creamy fish pie: smoky, seasonal fish in a creamy white sauce with grated, rather than mashed, tatties on top - a meal of the highest comfort-food order.

Help needed with girl names please

(21 Posts)
Due date in a few weeks and we still haven't decided on a girls name.

Our (current) shortlist is

Martha
Marla
Jemima
Clara
Maria
Leah

What are your thoughts on these names? Middle name is probably going to be Elizabeth. We have a DS called Ethan. Do these names 'go' with Ethan?

TIA

Lovely names. I like really like Marla and Clara- both were on my list although they are not great with our surname.

Agree JustChances - too many ths, or possibly fs with Martha and Ethan. And is it just me or does it sound a bit Emmerdale?

Clara I love love love. was on my shortlist.

All lovely - least keen on Marla and Jemima

Love Martha and Clara in particular - and am sure Clara is due for a BIG comeback v. soon

All go nicely with Ethan too

Leah isn't common at all round here - I've also seen it spelt Lea which is nice too.

Occurred to me that Hannah/Anna is a similar-ish name too and would go with Ethan

I LOVED Martha when I was pregnant with DS2 but DH didnt & also whenever I mentioned it people would say "Marfa?", and that would really bug me. I suppose you already get that with Ethan - would you want it twice over???

Leah is very common around these parts.

I went to school with a Marla but it seems like the "odd one out" to me - bit American and the others classic British

The other names are all lovely in there own right to.

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
