I realy like Jacob, but I am not keen on Jake as a shortening, which may put me off.

But if you are not sure I'd keep looking.

I love it. It is popular but not REALLY popular like Alfie, Jack etc. I like Jake too although that seems very popular.

littleboyblue · 12/04/2009 11:47

It's my ds1's name. I wasn't overly keen on it but dp loved it. I love it now, but nearly every boy I meet is called Jacob now

I think Jacob is a cool name...but popular

Baisey · 12/04/2009 11:55

Zebedee? As in magic roundabout? lol.
Jacob will almost certainly be shortened to Jake at school age if not earlier. I'll admit im biased I have a Jake, but if you are not sure of the name then dont go with it, you seem to have a lot of ideas! I wish I did, I have a list of 2 if its a boy

I think Jacob is a great name. Especially as it's my ds' name. I haven't met that many around here.

My ds is Jacob. I was worried about it being a jewish name but no one has ever commented and he's 11 now. There is another jacob in year 6, but they are the only 2 in the whole school! Sometimes he's called jake even by us, but most of the time he's Jacob.

I love Jacob.

Report

I like Jacob.

It would have been dd1's name had she been a boy and would probably have been dd2's name if she was a boy although by that time I had doubts about using Jake as a shortened form.

It is popular but not as popular as many other names (think it comes abut 20 in the top name polls).

I was a bit about dd1's name and to a lesser extent dd2's name but we had a lot of trouble agreeing names so had to both compromise - love them both now.
