Do you like it? What associations does it bring to mind? What impression would you have of someone with this name?

Not sure on it tbh. Remind me of Emmerdale, wasn't there a man called Amos on there??

It makes me think of the Waltons. which is odd cos I don't think there was an Amos in it.

I sort of like it, but don't at the same time. [unhelpful]

oh, there's one in murder she wrote though

thinking about it, it reminds me of rural america, hay rides, usa country living and all that.

My ds 20 months is called Amos and i love it - it has always been my favourite name - dh took a bit of coming 'round to it, I adore it!!!
People are usually a bit surprised by it, but that is fine.
We are by no means 'rednecks' .

Reactions are mixed - my parents were horrified, but love it now - dh family thinks all our dc's have weird names (they dont!).
Generally, you can see on peoples faces that they think it is a bit odd, or old fashioned and the milkman asked me if i am a fan of Emmerdale (I'm not!), but nobody has been outright rude about it (unlike my dd's name which people have openly been rude about ). Just the comments along the lines of 'dont hear that one much' etc. Nobody has ever met another one apparently!
I dont care though - I love it and it suits ds down to the ground.

I think it was on my list but dh said no because his mum sold cat Ozzy was really an Amos (Ezra was also there)

I love it too and was on my list for DS along with Seth and Silas and many more that I feel are 'similar'. He ended up being Noah as we just didn't have the balls for Amos.

I really like it, go for it if you like it. I get the impression of a slightly cool, friendly and happy person.

DD's name is \Pearl. Nothing to offensive and obscure there you would think! But people seem to really dislike it. One was a 93 year old woman called Pearl, and the other was another mother on the postnatal ward after I'd given birth, and her mother who was visiting . This was i a ward with 3 other girls all called Madeleine!

It reminds me of Harrison Ford and the movie Witness, but no idea why, is there an Amos in that?

I like it anyway.
