Baby names

Jasper and that flaming Twilight book/film

So we decided after MUCH agonising that if we have a baby boy, he will be Jasper. And we'd like his middle name to be Edward. Uh oh. Both are characters in Twilight. We will still use Jasper but now I'm not so sure about Edward WITH Jasper. When we chose, we didn't even know that either name featured in the book.

Are people going to think that Twilight has influenced our Jasper choice? And will there suddenly be a rash of Jaspers??? Though Edward is the main character...I have seen people on other forums stressing about Edward, though it's SUCH a classic name that I don't see how it can be spoiled by this book...

I haven't read the books, but I don't think there'll be a rush of Jaspers - personally, I think it's still a bit of a marmite name for many. I think Jasper Edward is lovely, and one set of books that's really popular now wouldn't put me off.

(FWIW I LOVED it but DH vetoed it because he couldn't stop thinking of a spaniel!)

I haven't read the books either, so I wouldn't worry about it. I have a Henry and there is the Horrid Henry series but it did not put me off.

I like your choice of name, a bit different without being obscure.

both nice names but they don't really flow together

I def wouldn't worry about the twilight angle

I love Twilight so would assume you were a huge fan with Jasper Edward.

Not so much with just Jasper, but I think thats an animal name as I know a rabbit and a dog called it

I have read the books but it wouldn't have occurred to me to make the link - even with both names.

It would be more obvious with two separate children as you won't be using both names much after the initial telling people.

If you had asked me to names the characters I wouldn't immediately have remembered there was a Jasper in any case. I think that if you like the names then you should use them and I think, depending on your surname, they do flow together well

Those bloody Twilight books... I've loved Cullen for such a long time and now every person who sees my name list says "Oh, just like Edward Cullen!"

I adore the name Jasper... I think you should go with it!
